Whats in the Balance?
I continue working on an inquiry into the nature of the art of rock balancing.
Balancing is an ephemeral art because of its temporary nature . The weight of the rocks and rubble is something differing from other artistic media plentiful in this day and age. One is constrained to use locally sourced materials due to the weight. This makes more obvious the connection of the work to the space.
Public balancing is a highly social asocial activity. One is called to responsibly work in a publicly shared space with large dangerous sculptures that require zen states and work on self to create. You must make it safe and put the welfare of others before self. One must be able to sense the relationship to all who use the space and fulfill a variety of kinds of obligations.
This may be useful for work on self.

WATCH FIRST!
The change of season happening now is one I've always been summoned by the will of attention to pause and notice. Sustained purrrception seems to bring this happening closer, until it enters into me as an impression.
The decline of reception from the sun experienced in this part of the world at this time of the yearly cycle feels comfortable and safe to me. The quality of light looks softer and greyer and when yellow sunlight warms through the clouds it is that much warmer thanks to the contrast. I see the values and qualities break apart, melt, change and transition to the next season . It is here that I see what is left and what is really lasting.
I that remains in the whole of time, now.
